Islam With Chinese Characteristics

Uyghurs in western China are allowed to practice Islam, but only in the way Beijing approves. Identity must be separated from their religion and that goes beyond throwing off headscarfs and shaving beards. I visited a park that was paved over an ancient Uyghur graveyard.
